Driving without Insurance charge - I have Insurance?

"is it possible to buy auto insurance abroad. I am protected usually for my vehicle in th uk and it's also a uk registered vehicle but due to ever-rising  insurance  fees im trying to find different ways aroud the united kingdom insurance guidelines for vehicles. ive been advised I could get insurance coverage from any western country that includes me to drive in the uk. Is this legal and is this feasible as if british drivers could be saved a fortune each year by and this loophole while in the law as western insurance is a lot cheaper.
